“What you do for people like me who are going through the hardest time of there lives, is truly amazing and I honestly can say!
The Angels have helped me more than you will ever know; I would even go as far to say, you saved my life. I don’t think I could be here otherwise.
I want to thank you and all the other volunteers for just being incredible for what they do.
One day I would be honoured to help your charity as volunteer if you ever need any more help. I think what you all do is so important and special to people’s lives."

“Lindsey escaped domestic abuse in early 2023 and was subjected to severe financial abuse by her ex-partner and incurred enormous debt as a result. She fled to a women's refuge and was placed into social housing. She had managed to save a few items from her old home but lacked a bed for herself and bunk beds for her two children. She also had no flooring in her home which made it cold and hard to heat. The Angels Foundation were able to carpet her home and provide the family with a bed each. Lindsey said she was humiliated having to live with no flooring especially when the children's friends came round and saw that they had no beds. She says her house now feels like a proper home and that she isn't embarrassed anymore. "

“Male victim of domestic abuse who was referred to us for support. An LGBTQ+ survivor, he fled the relationship he was in after being subjected to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse over several years. When he was placed into social housing, he arrived with only a bag of clothes. He had no flooring, only concrete under foot and no bed. A neighbour gave him an old sofa which he would take the cushions off and sleep on the floor with upstairs at night. The Angel’s Foundation provided carpet, a washing machine and sofa. He said he had felt quite isolated and alone and hadn't known where else to turn for help as he didn't think anyone would support him because of his ‘background’. He said his confidence and self-esteem has grown since working with The Angels Foundation and he would never have been able to make a bare house a home without our support. The impact on his mental health has been significant and given him hope for the future.. "

“Fleeing domestic abuse during her pregnancy, as her partners violence became so severe, and she feared for her life after her perpetrator strangled her. She spent 8 months in a women’s refuge in London, then was placed into social housing locally.
She had somehow been missed in the system and the authorities were not aware of her living conditions. It was only after she went into a children's family centre and asked for help that a referral was made by them.
Keesha had been living for two months with no flooring and no other items or furniture except two wooden chairs and two ring tabletop electric hob. She and her 8-month-old baby had been sleeping on the floor with only three blankets.
Within 24 hrs of the referral, The Angels Foundation arranged for a bed, a sofa, cooker and washing machine including flooring to be laid throughout her house. Keesha said she had been very scared I hadn't known where to turn as she didn't think she was ‘allowed to ask for help’.
She often worried about her child falling and injuring himself on the rough concrete floors. She said that if she hadn't received the help from The Angels Foundation, she would have had no other choice but to return to her perpetrator as she wouldn't have been able to cope on her own otherwise. "

“After I left I had nothing but a bag of clothes for me and my 4 children. We managed to get a house which was wonderful, but I struggled to get the things I needed. I didn’t even have the basics such as a cooker, fridge, beds or bedding.
My IDVA contacted the Angels Foundation and within a few hours, even though it was a bank holiday weekend, they sourced and installed a fridge and 4 beds for me. I am so grateful.
You have no idea how much this has helped me and my 4 children. We were sleeping on the floor before, so to have a proper bed is wonderful. We are so very grateful.
Our house feels like home now and that means everything.”

"We had to leave our home because we weren't safe anymore. My partners violence got so bad. He was arrested and remanded in custody. I managed to get out most of our stuff from home but the place we were going to had no flooring. My daughter is disabled and requires 24/7 care so it was vital we could move straight in due to her specific needs. This would have been really bad for my daughter but the Angels provided us with carpet throughout. There was no way I could have done this on my own if they hadn't helped us. They made it a home. They made me feel there was hope. Thank you Angels."

“I was referred to the Angels Foundation by a good samaritan in my community. I cannot begin to explain how much the Property Angels have helped me, not just putting me in touch with other agencies and charities, but also listening.
They listened patiently and with so much kindness, even when all I have done is cry, they has been there for me. For many victims, feeling heard is the start of finding that inner strength to leave.
Getting away from domestic violence seems so easy to those who have never experienced it. There are so many factors that go into leaving and starting a new life - that alone can put people off from taking those steps as alone it seems impossible.
With community organisations like the Angels Foundation, it is possible.
The one thing we seem to forget in our busy lives is that, we never know what goes on behind closed doors. As someone who was repeatedly physically and sexually assaulted in a relationship, you learn to put on an act, that everything is fine, because otherwise it will be even worse once you get home. I don’t want to live my life like that or in fear ever again.
The support that the Angels offer is life saving and life changing.
They truly are Angels.”

“Leaving behind everything I know was frightening but I had to get out, I feared for my life and my children’s as it had escalated so much. It got to the point where he wouldn’t let me leave the house and as a result, I lost my job. I was a nurse. He controlled all the finances, so I literally left with nothing, no access to any money anywhere.
My outreach worker got in touch with the The Angels Foundation and they paid for me Nursing Registration and for the childcare for when I re sat my exams.
It meant I could work and earn my own money at last.”

"I had been living in a refuge for 9 months after I escaped my abusive partner when he attacked me. My children even saw me strangled by him, but at the time I felt I had no way out. He earned the money but I had nothing and 3 babies under the age of 4 years old to look after. I couldn't see how we would cope.
My partner was arrested and it went to court, I stayed in a refuge for a long time until the house we are now in came up. I was grateful that we finally had a home, but I really struggled when we moved there. I had nothing but two beds and a cooker. That was it. But, we were safe. That was all I cared about.
So we lived out of carrier bags and I kept my babies warm and their knees protected on the rough concrete floors by wearing their snow suits 24/7. It was so cold over Christmas without carpet. Even when the heating was on (which I couldn't put on much as was too expensive) it was still very cold.
My IDVA put me in touch with the Angels and I'm so grateful she did. They visited a week before Christmas. They brought food shopping vouchers for us, a Christmas tree with decorations and presents and toys for the children! They organised donated furniture to be delivered, even a sofa!
But the best news was that they had fundraised enough money to carpet our house for us in the new year. I couldn't believe it. I would never have been able to manage without this support. I would have been in so much debt and would have had to go back my abuser if they hadn't stepped in.
You'll never know how much this has changed our lives."

I left a toxic relationship back in October last year. It resulted in me getting a black eye and going to court for a non-molestation order. The Angels were just what I needed. They were understanding, showed me support and most importantly didn't let me down.
They are there at the end of the phone and has made me realise in hard times things will get better and I can get through anything. I need mental health support due to trying to take an overdose and after been let down by the NHS, she kindly referred me to someone they work with who has again been nothing but supportive.
I can honestly say if I didn't have their support I wouldn't be where I am now. I have managed to start my own business, and I've even hired someone. We are growing more than I could have ever hoped for.
Just to have someone listen and not judge you has made a massive difference to me and my children. I worry where I would have been without The Angels.

I was in local a refuge for a long time after I escaped from my violent husband with my 4 year old son. I had to leave everything behind. We didn't even have our own beds. The Angels got us a sofa and some beds. This meant the world to us. I am very grateful for their kind help. It is more comfortable now.

“I ended the relationship with my partner as he was coercive controlling me and the emotional abuse became too much. I then found he had been climbing into my back garden at night and was watching me. He would call my phone hundreds of times a day and message me through every social media channel over and over. He just wouldn’t stop. He then turned up at the house one day, forcing his way in and became aggressive, kicking in doors.
I was so scared I called the police, and they arrested him. They we very kind and very understanding. My outreach worker contacted the The Angels Foundation and they fitted a RING security camera and paid for the installation too.
It was enough to keep my perpetrator away and I feel safe at home now.”
